Stranded II Mods TheSurvivalist:Christmas Update 12-24-19So yeah, you should update your GPU drivers & DirectX.
- I used my pickaxe to mine for 7 goldnuggets.
- Next, I stood near the anvil of the forge and combined some goldnuggets with my stone hammer to make gold coins.
- When the anvil full of goldnuggets(3 gns), I clicked one more time to see can the anvil has more goldnuggets on it, but... everytime a click the amount of goldnuggets in my rucksack increased by 3.
I hope you fix it soon, JJ.

That said, I'd like to mention 2 bugs.
1-The black ground issue. I always make a point to not minimize the game so I didn't know for the longest time the the black ground issue was still there. But, upon the death of my old laptop with Win XP, I'd been forced to buy a new laptop with Win 8, and this laptop force minimizes my game whenever my fingers get too close to the edge of the touch pad or touch screen. I save a lot but it's still annoying to have my game minimize and go to black ground in the middle of a lion fight! LOL
2-When I make my own island using editor (I've done it twice now to make sure) the fire doesn't work. I can put logs on the fire and light it using bark+branch or flint but the logs don't get consumed and no charcoal is made. Also, if there is a grill or distiller over the fire, nothing gets cooked or distilled.
Just wanted to let you know. Thanks!

I don't think this is a bug. It's just you don't know how to use them. Let me show you how:
- You must exchange logs with the fire, not put the logs on the fire (by discarding logs while you stand on the fire). To start the fire, you can combine bark+branch (but it's not working everytime) or use flints (you must have at least 2 flints in your rucksack) by putting in your hands [press T] and hitting the fire. Branches, bark and logs must take a while to get consumed and make charcoal in the fire.
- If there is a grill over the fire and you have some meat, steak or fish, put the meat in your hand, stand near the grill and press Right Mouse to put the meat on the grill (it takes a while to fry the meat).
- To distill, exchange the item you want to distill such as saltwater, undistilled wheat water, ect.(it takes a while too).
*Don't forget to start the fire first

Right. Yes, I do all that and it works fine in a regular game. My food gets cooked and my distiller works and I get enough charcoal to make a map pretty quickly. But when I've made an island in editor, the logs I exchanged into the campfire never really burn. This last island I made 1 log burned for 4 game days and I never got any charcoal and my meat was still raw. And it didn't burn me when I picked it back up off the grill.
Is it possible to combine the best stuff from S2 Extension Mod with S2 the Survivalist Mod? I think this mod would be the best modification to S2.
anyway it is such a long time since we last heard about any updates. hmmm, JJ, we can wait but pls give us some words just to make sure you haven't lost your interest in this wonderful project.
Well, we are with you man
Copy rights? doubt it. First, this is an open source code. Second, doubt the other modder has the cash or willingness to employ a team of attorneys to bring a claim. Last, even if he did and was willing to drop a few tens of thousand dollars enough to make a fuzz, I do not see what he will get out of it, at best an injunction.
I keep hearing about this. IMO is a matter of courtesy, as long as you say thank you and give credit to the author(s) of the altered code, no one should complain. Indeed, they should be flattered.
Now, I do see maybe the community itself frowning upon the unauthorized use of modded code, but, if that is the case, a simple request BY THE AUTHOR to stop using the code would be enough. If the author does not care about it enough as to request it, then no one should complain, and if they do, just ignore them.
As of last update I have not gotten much new done but I am playing the game so I know what we have thus far and where I need to do more work.
Some things in the back of my mind I am contemplating has me at a stand still at the moment....because I dont want to reach the end game of the mod without approaching it from a good "direction"? Or what i mean is I dont want it to turn out cheesey...or lame. Or not make real sense from the players point-of-view.
So please keep enjoying the game as I try to get some significant updates done worth posting a new download.
I have not gave up interest on this mod...just been taking a break from the "burn-out" syndrome.
p.s. Welcome newer players/posters...I had not replied to some of you because you got your info/reply from some other regulars in this thread...thank you for your feedbacks and glad your liking the mod.
We should keep Survivalist going at least until Stranded 3, which could take 1 or 2 more years (probably 2 or 3).
So, just set up a couple of big goals, and a couple of minor ones.
If I were you, (if I could code), I would take advantage of every single mod out there. Just borrow anything you can. As I said before, the great thing about this game so far is the fact that we got great modders.
As always, and you have done a phenomenal job so far, fixing the bugs and improving information delivery should take precedence over other projects. Moreover, i think you have done a great job diversifying (but we can always get more), and we should work on the end game scenarios.

So I was messing around with the debug menu, and I gave myself something called *Redacted* The description just literally blew me away. Did you put that in there? Are you really a brony?
ermm...i have no clue what your talking about. What ever is in the debug mode is original before The Survivalist...so I will look into it though. Can you add any more information that might help me locate this in debug, and maybe some details when you said "give your self" Redacted? Is that even a word?
Oh and about redacted.
Redacted was an Secure Contain Protect word I just randomly wanted to use. It means the data was supposed to be kept secret.
I'm having some kind of problem, maybe memory leak or something. When I use the sprint button the game lags/stutters severely, and when I enter a mine and exit it again the game starts to lag and gets worse every time I exit a mine. When I exit to main menu the lag is still there until I completely exit the game and load my saved game.
Thanx and keep up the good work JJ. Cant wait for the new "Patch".

Huh.
Try turning down your settings. When your saying "Entering and exiting the mine" your in the right place.
If that doesn't work, try closing out windows in the background to make more of your RAM free
If that doesn't work, i'll look into helping you allocate more RAM to the game.
It really doesn't happen to me, and I got a laptop.

I've tried running the game on the lowest settings, though running it on full does not effect the game's FPS, only when I press the sprint key. As for entering/exiting the mine, I don't think that is supposed to happen at all, regardless of my system specs. See spoiler for the specs.
It could be your keyboard shift button that is bad? Maybe try setting the key to another button once, in options, and see if it still does the same thing.
If nobody else is having this issue then it must be something related to your computer? Windows vista/7 seems to have issues running this game, there is a fix at the main S2 website you download installing it to the main folder...it adds a different start.exe that is suppose to clear up issues.
let me know results please...if any.

I'm running windows XP SP3(See the above spoiler for complete-ish specs). I've tried setting the key to a different key but the results are the same. Not sure what causes the lag when exiting the mine, only happens when I exit the mine.
Thanx for the reply.
