I can't run Stranded II on Windows 2000. Is the engine capable of running on Win2K?

None at all. It opens, I see it flash a black box, it closes. I have SP4. I think, however, it's a hardware issue:

600MHz Intel P3 Katmai CPU
512MB RAM
20GB PATA HDD
Radeon 8500

This is a crappy PC that I picked up off of an office for free. I can run it on my other PC just fine, though.

Really need help here, umm, I've got stranded II, and it works fine, except that the mouse moves very slowly at the main menu, and whenever I bring up any menus; I've tried turning all graphics down, but that didn't help. When I play the game it is fine and works smoothly, only when a menu is brought up does it start going really slow. I have:

Pentium 4 - 2.53GHz
256MB DDR-SDRAM
NVIDIA Geforce4 MX 420 (64MB)
and Windows XP (SP2)

What do you guys think I should do?
All help appreciated!!

is the mouse only that slow in the main menu, or even in the game menus like diary etc.?

Umm, its slow in both menus, main menu and diary (in-game), basically its slow when there are any menus up.
BTW, I use Direct X 9.0c (if thats any help)

Yeh, but that just made the mouse hyper-sensitive in-game, and not when the menus came up. I have literally tried everything, lowering graphics, lowering resoluton, turning off sound etc. Nothing seems to work.
Grrr... it looks like a really good game, but I cant play it!!

then try to update your drivers/directX and close EVERY application you don't fucking need while playing s2.
You can close all driver panels, unplug your internet, quit firewall and anti-virus-kit... Stop EVERYTHING you don't really need to play the game.
I think, your Resources will be free enough to play then. Try it!
